Minimum Requirements…

Generic Requirements:
*Applicants must be fluent in at least 2 official languages, of which one
must be English;
*Must be a South African citizen;
*Applicants must have a valid motor vehicle drivers’ license;
*Applicants must have specific working knowledge of the Directorate for
Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) mandate and functions (SA Police
Service Act 68 of 1995);
*An applicable higher qualification/post graduate qualification related to the
post. Relevant training and development in an Executive Development
Programme, Leadership and Management Training, and/or Programme and
Project Management may be an added advantage;
*The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security clearance to
the level of Top Secret before approval of appointment (if not already in
possession of such a valid security clearance).

Additional requirements:
*Have at least a three (3) year Diploma or Degree (accredited by SAQA on
NQF level 6 or higher). Preference may be given to applications in possession
of qualifications in Policing/ Law/ Public Management/ Human Resource
Management/ Financial Management/ Supply Chain Management/
Communication/ Administration or other relevant field of study;
*Have a minimum of three (3) years’ appropriate managerial experience in
the field of the post.

Minimum Requirements…

Core Functions:
*The Provincial Commander: Corporate Support Services is directly
accountable to the Provincial Head: DPCI;
*Ensure the management provision of an effective and efficient function of
Legal Services, Communication Services, Support Services as well as
Management Information and Strategic Planning in the Province;
*Represent the Provincial Head: DPCI at various forums as directed;
*Ensure compliance with information security standards as prescribed by the
Minimum Information Security Standards and relevant legislation;
*Manage and utilise all resources (human, physical and financial) allocated to
the immediate post environment in accordance with relevant directives and
legislation.

Minimum Requirements…

Successful candidates will mainly be deployed in the operational environment at station level and specialised environments as well as within the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) and the Division: Human Resource Development and will as far as possible be reenlisted in the ranks they previously held in the Service (but not above the rank of Warrant Officer), irrespective of the rank they held when leaving the SAPS.

Former members must:-

• Have been appointed as a member of the South African Police Service in terms of the Police Service Act, 1995;
• Have successfully completed basic police training and relevant functional police training courses, where applicable;
• Have a good disciplinary and attendance record during their former employment in the South African Police Service;
• Be in possession of at least a Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or higher qualification;
• Have at least a valid light motor vehicle license (code B);
• Be a South African citizen of which documentary proof must be furnished;
• Be proficient in at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;
• Submit himself or herself to a medical examination as determined by the National Commissioner;
• Undergo a psychological assessment as determined by the National Commissioner and be found to comply with the profile of a police official;
• Not have any tattoo marks of which will be visible when wearing a uniform and not be
  irreconcilable with the objectives of the Service;
• Have no previous criminal convictions, and/or pending criminal, disciplinary cases and such person shall allow his or her fingerprints to be taken and allow background enquiries to be made;
• Not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm;
• Be prepared to be deployed based on the needs of the Service which may include having to relocate at one’s own expense and or to accept a post away from one’s current place of residence that could result in reasonable travelling;
• Not be involved in any business or activity that will be in conflict of interest with the integrity of the Service; and
• Be willing to undergo a refresher course or any other training as determined by the National Commissioner.

Applications of former members who have left the Service under any of the following circumstances will NOT be considered for re-enlistment:-

• Members who have reached retirement age (early retirement or compulsory retirement age);
• Members who have been dishonourably discharged or dismissed;
• Members who have left the Service pending the completion of a disciplinary enquiry and/or criminal proceedings;
• Members who have left the Service due to severance package, ill health or retirement as a result of a medical boarding; and
• Members who left the Service more than 10 years ago

Focus areas for capacitation:
The focus of the re-enlistment process will be on the capacitation of the following prioritized environments in all Provinces and Operational Divisions as well as the Directorate for Priority

Crime Investigation:

• Newly established units:

1. Anti-Gang Unit;
2. Taxi Violence Unit;
3. Cold Case Investigation;
4. Murder and Robbery

• Public Order Policing (POP);
• Tactical Response Teams (TRT);
• K9;
• Mounted Unit;
• Family, Child & Sexual Offences Unit (FCS);
• Stock Theft Units;
• Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU);
• Anti-Corruption Unit; and
• High Crime Weight Stations.
• Human Resource Development (HRD)

Copies of an applicant’s ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificate of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the posts and motor vehicle driver’s license must be attached to the application.

Job Specification…

Core Responsibilities:
 Execute Access Control in terms of the Control of Access to Public
Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985);
 Positive identification of employees, visitors and contactors at the
security access point;
 Registering of employees, visitors and contractors, electronic searching
of employees, visitors and contractors;
 Authorize entry in to the premises to employees, visitors and contractors
after complying with all the legislative requirements, confirm visits with
the hosts and ensure escort in line with the prescripts;
 Issue admission control cards to visitors and receive them back;
 Keep the necessary visitor’s register;
 Check suppliers, articles and objects, where necessary, before they are
allowed to be brought into the premises to ensure that the safety of the
premises will not be threatened;
 Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas;
 Guard vehicles and equipment in the field – ONLY from a security point
of view.
 Check all security equipment and facilities and take action, when
necessary;
 Bring any deficiencies or problems with regard to security matters to the
attention of senior security personnel.
General:
