Key Performance Areas:
• Co-ordinates laboratory administrative functions (e.g. document scanning, receiving, logging, client services, cashiering, insurance, etc.) to ensure the smooth operation of the site in line with relevant standard operating procedures and company policy.
• Monitors and controls expenses in order to control costs.
• Extracts and actions the pre- and post- analytical laboratory management reports for submission to line manager.
• Responsible to hold regular staff meetings.
• Participates and contributes as a member of project teams that are responsible to implement pre- and post- analytical laboratory processes and LEAN systems at new or upgraded laboratories to ensure that correct working procedures are implemented and staff are trained accordingly.
• Monitors the correct application of quality assurance processes and standard operating procedures to ensure corrective actions are taken as required.
• Ensures availability of up to date documents for internal and external audits to ensure accreditation is maintained and/ or obtained in accordance with organisational objectives and business requirements.
• Liaises with all customers in order to resolve service related issues, maintain a positive image of the organisation and promote the services of Lancet laboratories.
• Follows up patient details in order to ensure correctly completed forms in compliance with quality control standards.
• Rosters the activities of staff to ensure the most optimal utilisation of available resources.
• Provide on-the-job-training to staff to ensure they have the skills required by the organisation and are able to achieve their performance objectives.

• Performs hospitals rounds, deliver reports, and collect samples when requested to facilitate work flow.
• Ensures basic housekeeping in own working area according to set standard operating procedures

• Records Laboratory numbers in the register book which will serve as proof of delivery

• Performs diagnostic testing procedures, reviews and verifies results and interacts with pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.

• Operates, maintains and calibrates the equipment used in the laboratory to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results. This includes recording instrument maintenance and quality control results as well as recognising and resolving problems by troubleshooting mal functioning equipment and taking corrective action.

• Implements sound housekeeping procedures and work effectively with others as a member of a team to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with safety protocols.
